How often do hoses need to be replaced?

Rarely, if ever. The tube and nozzle provided should last for years if properly stored and cleaned after each use. It is important to run clean water through this device.

Are additional attachments required to use it?

No. However, you can order extra tubes. The Ice Hero® comes with an 10 foot tube. We have 15’ tubes and 20’ tubes available for purchase with connectors and nozzles attached if desired. For almost all applications we've tested, the standard 10 ft tube is all you need.

Is there a warranty?

We plan to have the best warranty in the business. Contact the manufacturer for details.

What type of pipe can the Ice Hero be used with?

The Ice Hero can be used in any pipe material; Copper, PVC, even garden hoses. Diameters can be as small as ½” to 4” sewer pipe or larger.

Can it handle extremely cold Canadian winters?

Yes. That is exactly what it was built for! The device is designed to be operational down to
–40°C or colder, making it ideal for severe northern climates.

Can the Ice Hero be used indoors?

Absolutely. The Ice Hero® produces no fumes, no chemicals, no high pressure, no steam.

There will be water flowing back as the Ice Hero cuts it's way through the icy pipe, so it’s a good idea to have a boot tray or a container below the functioning tool to collect excess water.

What frozen pipes have you thawed with the Ice Hero®?

Our clients have thawed frozen plumbing from the house, septic outlet pipes, frozen drains, water lines to supply livestock drinkers, hydrants, and shop drains so far. We have also thawed outdoor graded yard drains, eliminating the need to call out a steamer.

What temperature of water is required?

The Ice Hero will work with cool, warm, or hot tap water. Do not use boiling water in the device. Hot tap water is perfect for optimal de-icing.

How much does the Ice Hero weigh?

The Ice Hero weighs approximately 12 pounds empty and about 25 pounds with 6 L of water in the bucket.

How much water is needed to thaw a pipe?

Most freezes are less than 8’ unless the pipe has been left frozen for a long time. To thaw 8' of frozen pipe, you would use 2 to 4 litres of water.

How long does it take to thaw a frozen pipe?

Once you have access to the inside of the pipe by removing the valve or disconnecting at a splice point, you can thaw 8’ of pipe in under 5 minutes.

Is a steamer faster than the Ice Hero?

No. The Ice Hero will beat a steamer in a race all day long, especially when you consider "shop to shop" time to de-ice a pipe. The Ice Hero does not require high pressure, steam, heavy equipment, external heat or power source.
